Hand engraving

Hand engraving is the finishing touch of many of our designs and one of the pinnacles of the jewelry arts.

Engraving is cutting Patterns, Letters or Motifs directly into the metal. Some jewelers pretend that Carved patterns, which are produced in the wax or resin model and cast into place are engraving. Hand engraving is finer and much more detailed & delicate than cast patterns.

Inside Engraving

Most of our hand engraving is done by hand, but we do sometimes cast patterns or lettering inside as well.

Hand engraving inside is the traditional way to share a private message for the wearer, from wedding dates and initials to pet names.

Stock rings (with room to engrave) come with up to 20 characters of inside engraving, free!

There are some rings with such small areas that no inside engraving fits, but on wider bands, more complex motifs and even your actual fingerprints can be engraved!

Accent Gems & Setting Styles

Accent gems

Diamond, sapphires, rubies and emeralds are the most popular choices
We buy large quantities of accent gems for stock to get the best price and selection.
Finding matching gems in unusual colors can be difficult, expensive and time consuming.
1-2 mm accent gems range from ~$22-$110 each including setting labor.
2-3 mm accent gems range from ~$35-$300 each including setting labor.
Rare gems like natural Alexandrite and Natural color diamonds can be much higher

Setting cost varies by difficulty and stone count. Prong set and flush set are the fastest and easiest, French fishtail is gorgeous, but time consuming and the most expensive setting style.

The setting cost per stone goes down dramatically as the number of stones increases.

We are very picky about our setting work and it shows. Our accent setting lasts a lifetime and that is guaranteed.

Fine wire filigree

Real hand-made filigree is a treasure, and rarely done in factory made jewelry.

Proper filigree is done by curling, twisting and bending fine threads of wire by hand, and installing them in small windows or panels, and the effect is subtle and delightful. Complex patterns can be created with details like initials, fabricated leaves, overlapping pattens or with the addition of gemstones.

Fine details like real filigree are the difference between an heirloom and an ordinary piece of jewelry.

Most of our textures are finishes done by hand, but some are carved and cast (bark, terrain and other organic textures are often a mixture or a cast pattern and hand finishes).

In addition to our standard textures, we offer many custom finishes and textures. Always feel free to add any item with an element you like to your favorites with the project name you want to use it for.

Ring Sizing

Ring size is very personal. Some people prefer a ring that is looser, while others like a snug fit.

We need to know the size of the ring early in the design process. We have several ways to help you determine the size of the ring you want.

The wearer should be measured with a sizer that is similar in width to the ring. Wide and narrow rings fit quite differently even when the exact same diameter.

If you have a larger or small size than shown, no worries, just list your size in the project notes.

Design time is generally 2-4 weeks, but we can expedite if needed.
Production time varies, but due to unprecedented custom order volume, we are running 6-8 weeks after the design is fully settled at this time.
In-stock rings can sometimes be customized more quickly.
It's better to not be rushed, so start early if you can.

Especially now, you may be rushed, so please ask! We excel at satisfying every client, and we can almost always work to your deadline!
